Over 25 years ago, there was a gathering of a few Haitian pastors in the small church in Thomassique Haiti. Our Haitian pastor friends had gathered for a week of training. Blake was humbled and honored to offer Bible teaching and training to these courageous and spiritually hungry church leaders. That was the beginning of an amazing journey that God has graciously allowed us to continue over these years. 

The church in Thomassique has been a vital and strategic part of Hope Rising’s partnership with GVCM in Haiti. The church has hosted numerous dental clinics and other medical clinics over the years. We’ve had the honor and privilege of leading over a dozen teams, and taking hundreds to visit friends in Thomassique. 

The rainy season of 2022 brought strong hurricane winds that carried the roof of the church away. The metal roof that had protected the congregation from the sun, wind, and rain was no longer there. The winds were so strong that even the metal door hinges were destroyed.

Rather than crying in sorrow for the building that was damaged, the congregation at Thomassique Church praised God for their blessings and that no one was hurt.

Our teams evaluated the damage and realized it was time to do more than make repairs. Structurally and financially, the construction team determined that rebuilding the church was a better option than trying to repair it. 

With your support, we began the amazing work of constructing an improved facility for this strategic church with the goal of advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the growing community of Thomassique

Blake visited the new church building, and was so encouraged by the construction team’s outstanding work. The building is almost finished! The congregation has already been gathering for worship in the new church building. We are just months away from completing this amazing project!
