WATER. A CRITICAL ELEMENT TO SUSTAIN LIFE.

HERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT THE WATER CRISIS IN HAITI.

1. Less than half of Haitians in rural areas have access to clean water.
Haiti is considered a water stressed country, meaning the demand for water exceeds the available amount or when poor water quality restricts its use. The lack of clean water means a lack of life. Clean water not only prevents dehydration but also prevents the spread of waterborne illnesses like typhoid, cholera and chronic diarrhea; all of which can be fatal.

2. Clean water is expensive.
The cost of one bucket of water, a basic necessity, can cost more than 25% of a person’s income.

3. Lack of water means lack of buildings.
Concrete is needed to build churches, homes or schools. To mix the concrete, water is needed. Hope Rising Haiti is committed to providing access to both clean drinking water as well as constructing new, safe and sturdy buildings for the people of Haiti. Our goal is to continue God’s work meeting the physical and spiritual needs of our Haitian friends.

The need for clean water is critical. The cost of drilling one well is $10,000 and one well can provide thousands of people with drinking water and allow local communities to build more churches, schools and homes.

Thank you for your prayers and support enabling us to drill this well for the community of Thomassique. Together, we have changed the lives of so many in this community.

“I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.” Matthew 25:35
