Hurricane Matthew, a category 4 Hurricane, is projected to make landfall to Haiti tonight and through tomorrow. The Weather Channel is calling this storm catastrophic for Haiti as the small island braces for winds speeds of 130 – 156 mph and up to 20 inches of rain in 48 hours. Even well built framed homes can sustain severe damage with loss of most of the roof structure and even some exterior walls, but most of Haiti’s population, especially in the rural places, live in unsteady, underdeveloped structures. The amount of rain is expected to cause flooding and dangerous mudslides.

Please pray for the people of Haiti. Please pray for God’s protection for our friends and communities and for safe places to weather the storm. Please join us in seeking how we can serve the people of Haiti after Hurricane Matthew passes.
